The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday said it arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly raping a three-year old girl.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the corps in Gombe State, Stephen Moses, who disclosed this said the suspect was arrested in Kwami shortly after the mother of the victim, Malama Fatima Abdullahi, reported the case to Kwami division of the command.
He said the mother of the victim told the police that the accused was their neighbour, adding that she became suspicious when the girl came back home crying.
He said the mother added that she discovered blood coming out from the girl’s private part and when asked about the cause, she pointed at the neighbour’s door.
The PRO said when the woman asked the neighbour what happened, he allegedly ran away from the house but was quickly apprehended.
He said the case was transferred to Gombe command.
Moses alleged that the accused confessed to committing the crime, adding that the victim was taken to the hospital, where it was confirmed that she was raped.
He said investigations had been completed and that the suspect would be arraigned.
