Engr. Niyi Olaiya of the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, has been awarded a two months Research Fellowship by the Association of Commonwealth Universities to carry out a research in Nano cellulose reinforced bi-polymer for Bio- gradable packaging.
Olaiya will be carrying out his research at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Science, University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Fellowship provides funding for researchers to travel from ACU member Universities to a host Institution in another country, for research work themed around addressing the critical global issue of marine plastics.
Congratulating him the Vice chancellor Professor Joseph Fuwape commended Olaiya for winning the scholarship, describing it as well deserved and worthy of emulation. He admonished him to keep the flag flying and not relent in the pursuit of scholarly excellence.
