OPC leader, others killed in Edo cult clash


A leader of the Odua Peoples’ Congress, Victor Omoruyi, has been shot dead during the ongoing cult clash in Edo State.

Over 10 persons have been killed in different parts of Benin City since the clash began last Saturday.

Victor was killed at Uselu area in Egor local government area where members of OPC in the area have gathered to plan for an end of year party.

Armed youths suspected to be cultists reportedly stormed the meeting venue and shot Victor dead.

The Victor’s corpse was displayed in the street by members of OPC in the state, who swore to avenge his death.

An OPC member, Yomi Adeleye, said the gang invaded the meeting venue with pump action guns and killed one of their members.
He vowed that OPC would strike back if security agencies do not arrest the culprits.
