Some concerned stakeholders in Osun State have expressed dissatisfaction with the parlous state of some public schools in the state.

They alleged that the sorry condition of most of the schools in the state contrast sharply with the image of sound educational system the government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has been brandishing in the past few years.

A source told NewMailNG on Monday in Osogbo, Osun State capital that some students have been writing their exams either on the floors or under trees within the precincts of their respective schools, citing the case of students of CAC Middle School, Gbonmi area of Osogbo, as an example.

According to an impeccable source, each classroom in the school contained not less 80 students. “The overcrowding affects both students and teachers. Imagine having to teach in a very hot classroom filled students,” the source said.

Apart from dilapidated classrooms, students had to grapple with the problems of acute shortage of furniture and over-population.

Efforts to get officials of the state to comment on the issue was unsuccessful as several phone calls put across to Semiu Okanlawon, Governor Aregbesola’s aide was not answered.

It would however be recalled that thje state government had in the past few years embarked on a massive infrastructural development in the state, including renovation of old schools and construction of new ones with modern facilities.
