Former governor of Akwa Ibom State and a member of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, Obong Victor Attah, has endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the coming general elections in the State, Okon Umana.

Umana was also endorsed by another prominent member of the PDP in Akwa Ibom and a former minister of petroleum, Dan Etete.

Attah told the mammoth crowd in live televised broadcast on NTA at Uyo where the APC grand rally took place that his decision to support Umunna was based on the desire for change in Akwa Ibom.

Attah said as a political leader in the state, he had to align himself with the majority of the people who want Umana as their governor.

He said despite the fact that he is a member of PDP it was his duty to identify with the wishes of the people of Akwa Ibom.

He also urged the people to vote for APC senatorial candidate who is contesting against the governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio who he accused of breaching the agreement of zoning in the state because of his selfish interest.

Etete urged the people to ensure that they vote and protect their votes by staying behind to watch the counting of their votes in various polling booths to avoid rigging on the day of the election.

It was not certain whether Attah and Etete have dumped from PDP to join APC but with the appearance of notable PDP members at the rally, it shows that there is a crack in PDP over the choice of their governorship candidate which they alleged was imposed against the wishes of the people by Akpabio
