Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Thursday morning protested outside the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin, Edo state capital.

Accusing the electoral body of bias, the protesters demanded a cancellation of the governorship election.

Security personnel have barricaded the INEC headquarters in the state to prevent the protesters from accessing the premises.

One of the protesters told newsmen that they would remain in front of INEC office until the commission met their demand.

“I voted for Oshiomhole the first time, I voted for him the second time. Enough is enough, let him leave us to make our choice,” a middle-aged man, said.

“We won’t go until INEC allows the true result of this election reflect. This is daylight robbery.”

After all efforts to pacify them failed but they were eventually dispersed when security agents fired canisters of teargas into the air.
