Police in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, stormed the residence of soccer legend, John Fashanu, on Saturday where they found an unlicensed gun.

The police was reported to have also found five international traveling pastors in the expansive house, according to a Mirror.UK report.

The six-foot plus footballer was whisked away by the policemen based on their discovery.

Fashanu wrote a statement with the police and was subsequently released.

He told Mirror he was not arrested, but voluntarily reported himself to the police. “I was not arrested – I went to the police station voluntarily. I’ll go back tomorrow morning to the police station. I expect to pay a fine.

“It was an old fashioned firearm. I don’t actually know what model it is – it’s like a stub gun”, Fashanu stated.

Fashanu has blamed his estranged wife, Abigail, for his ordeal. Both are locked in a divorce battle to be soon determined by a high court, where the suit is filed.
