Police begin manhunt for gunmen in Rivers killings

The Rivers Police Command has said that it had commenced manhunt for gunmen who killed nine persons and burnt the house of a politician in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Ahmed Muhammad, said the gunmen attacked Obrikom and Obor communities killing nine persons and injuring two others.

He said they also burnt the house of Vincent Ogbagu, the All Progressives Congress House of Assembly candidate for the Local Government Area.

Muhammad said the police had commenced investigation into the incident with a view to bring its perpetrators to book and appealed to the public to assist in making available, credible information in this respect.

Recalled that New Mail had broke the news of the gunmen attack in the Rivers communities Friday night, even at the time sporadic gun shots were still being fired in the affected areas.
