A detachment of heavily armed policemen on Tuesday sealed-off the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, billed to host an international colloquium on the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act.

The colloquium with the theme “Demystifying the complexities – empowering the people” was organized by Hon. Dino Melaye, under the auspices of the Anti- Corruption Network.

The policemen who parked their Hilux patrol van with registration number NPF 6673 C, at the gate of the hotel in Abuja were seen at strategic positions all over the hotel premises.

The doors leading to the hall were not only chained but padlocked. They also ensured that the inner doors leading to the venue were barricaded after removing the chairs and event banners already arranged and mounted in the hall.

Most participants who arrived early for the event expressed disappointment at the action of the police, even as Melaye himself condemned the police action and vowed to sue the leadership of the Nigeria police and the management of the hotel.
