The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has asked Governor Rauf Aregbesola to stop blackmailing and defaming his character.

Omisore, in a statement by his media aide, Prince Diran Odeyemi, warned Aregbesola against further damage of his character and personality to score cheap political points.

According to Omisore “what we expect to be their campaign is what they have done to impact on the lives of Osun indigenes, and not what Omisore did not do. A performing Governor would not need to spend over N3 billion on billboards and posters for a second term, his achievements if truly there is any, should naturally be his campaign slogan.

“If Aregbesola is given 20 years to govern Osun State, he cannot achieve one tenth of what Omisore has done for the people of the state, saying that was the reason why people voted for him in 2003 while in detention, “a feat nobody has achieved in the country.

“The period of my stewardship at the National Assembly witnessed tremendous development that everybody could see except for those who are myopic and have allowed their personal frustration to becloud their sense of judgment.”

He listed some of the projects he facilitated while at the Senate as the Air Force Safety School, Ipetu Ijesa, and Navy Communication School, Ile-Ife and Army Recruitment Centre, Esa Oke.

But the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state said all the issues raised against Omisore in the past were not to blackmail him, but facts.

Responding, APC ‘s Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, said Aregbesola had been able to transform the entire state since he came into office about three and half years ago.

According to him, “it is a pity that all that Omisore could flaunt are the federal government institutions that are scattered all over the state. With or without him, all those federal institutions would have been in place.”
