Suicide bombers shot dead in University of Maiduguri

Two female Boko Haram suicide bombers, who tried to gain entry into the University of Maiduguri through the works department was in the early Monday morning shot dead by troops stationed in the school.

The public relations officer of the school, Tanko Ahmed confirmed the incidence to newsmen, stating that the suicide bomber had already entered the University through the back gate around 11pm Sunday night before being gunned down by a vigilant soldier.

He said the works department where the incident occurred have been cordoned off by security agents to render the area safe.

”The area have been cordoned off by security agents,” he said.

Their remains were deposited at Borno state specialist hospital by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) emergency response teams.

There was a similar explosion last Saturday at a mosque close to Federal high court jiddari polo, where the emergency response teams evacuated the bodies of two female suicide bombers believed to have died in the incident.

The Saturday’s explosion which occurred at about 5.25 am, affected four victims who were transported to hospital.

Recall that the university has been lately attacked by the terrorist group, one of such attacks being at a mosque in the school.
