He urged workers in the state to remain resolute in the quest to have their legitimate right from “an autocratic and deceitful government”.

The governor, had approved the dismissal of the state chairman, his vice and the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Dare Ilekoya.

In a statement on Monday night, Ambali said he had never been summoned by any panel, and that the attention of the leadership of the union was only drawn to the purported dismissal through phone calls.

“We are calling on our ever committed workers to remain at home and not be intimidated by this action that was against all norms of democratic and fair hearing. I have never been summoned by any panel and this clearly shows how autocratic and deceitful the government of Ibikunle Amosun is,” the statement said.

Recalled that the governor had earlier in the day approved the dismissal of the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Akeem Ambali, his vice and the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Dare Ilekoya and 14 others.

The sack was reportedly sequel to the recommendations of a panel of inquiry set up to investigate the alleged misconduct of executive members of the NUT on the 2016 World Teachers Day celebration, held on the 5th of October, at the NUT Hall, Kuto, Abeokuta.
