Sweden forward Fridolina Rolfo put the Germans ahead against the run of the play in the 58th minute.

She fired in from close range as Barca, beaten finalists last year, failed to clear the danger.

Barca had 16 attempts on goal but only once managed to test Wolfsburg goalkeeper Friederike Abt, who saved a header from Oshoala in the first half.

The ball had appeared to deflect off the hand of Wolfsburg defender Kathrin Hendrich, but the Spanish side’s appeals for a penalty kick were ignored.

Barca hit back quickly with a penalty from former Atletico player Jenni Hermoso and moved into a 4-1 lead at halftime with goals from Mariona Caldentey and Oshoala plus an own goal from Laia Aleixandri.

Oshoala struck again soon after the interval then Atletico were further embarrassed by a second own goal, by Silvia Meseguer, which completed the rout.

Barcelona are top with seven points from three games, while Atletico have six points.

The attacker, who celebrated the goals on her social media handles, scored in a pre-season match between Barcelona female club and AEM Lleida, which ended 13-0.

While expressing her excitement about the goals, she tweeted, “Hat-trick today. Good 45 minutes under my belt today (Sunday).”

Her performance, however, got accolades from her fans on social media.

One of them, Ale Angami said, “Awesome job Asisat, I can’t wait to see you score bangers in the upcoming season!”

During the match, Barcelona female club featured Graham Hansen, JenniHermoso and Andrea Falcón de azulgrana for the first time.

The game also saw PatriGuijarro return to play with Barcelona after seven months.

Apart from Oshoala, other scorers are Mariona (3), Hamraoui (2), Losada, Torrejón, Hermoso, and Aitana.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that it was Oshoala’s fifth goal in five appearances for the FC Barcelona Ladies in the Liga Iberdrola since her arrival on loan,

The Super Falcons star had joined from Chinese club Dalian Quanjian in January.

The game at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium was watched by 60,739 fans, a new record for a women’s club match.

It saw Oshoala opening scoring for FC Barcelona Ladies in the 65th minute of the keenly-contested encounter, after the first half had ended goalless.

The former Arsenal Ladies and Liverpool Ladies player was however replaced by Toni Duggan 17 minutes from time.

Substitute Duggan made the three points safe for the FC Barcelona Ladies by netting the second goal 10 minutes from time.

The result means FC Barcelona Ladies, with 63 points from 24 games played so far,, narrowed the gap at the top to just three points.

They are behind table-toppers Atletico Madrid on 66 points in the 16-club Liga Iberdrola Primera Division.
