Maxi Okwu of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said there was “no victor, no vanquished’’ in his victory at the court as the party’s National Chairman.

Okwu’s statement comes on the heels of the judgment by an Abuja High Court that he is the bona fide National Chairman of APGA in place of Victor Umeh.

A statement by Okwu in Lagos stated that his team was prepared to meet Umeh at his convenience without pre-conditions and at Enugu where APGA was inaugurated.

“With this re-confirmation of our leadership, we shall reactivate with greater vigour our re-engineering and re-branding of APGA by rapprochement, reconciliation and re-integration of aggrieved members of our great party.

“The other key element in this road map is that APGA will lead the third political force for the 2015 general elections.

“As I have always done in each opportunity, I will extend an olive branch and a right hand of comradeship to our erstwhile national chairman, Umeh’’, it stated.

The statement commended Justice Abdulkadir Abdul-Kafarati of the Federal High Court Abuja for the judgment.

“The judgment is indeed another opportunity for the party to re-discover its soul and move forward.

“We give all glory and thanks to God Almighty for this opportunity; we do not claim victory and no one has been vanquished’’, it said.

It urged APGA members to resolve that there be an end to litigations as no party could make progress through incessant, protracted, intra party dissensions and litigations.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday dissolved the executive committee of the Victor Umeh-led faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Delivering judgment, Justice Abdul Kafarati upheld the chairmanship of Maxi Okwu, who was elected on April 8, 2013.

Kafarati declared that the tenure of the Umeh-led faction had constitutionally expired and ordered it dissolved forthwith.

Okwu had sued Umeh and Sani Shinkafi, the faction’s secretary, and sought their removal for outliving their tenure.

Okwu’s faction had also joined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/563/2013.

The plaintiffs had further averred that Umeh and his faction had constitutionally outlived their tenure and that another party executive committee had been elected to replace it.

Umeh had in a preliminary objection, argued that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the case.

He had urged the court to declare him the authentic chairman of the party.

The court had earlier reserved judgment on the matter to Feb. 7, but it, however, gave its verdict on Wednesday.
