Female suicide bomber kills 3, injures 10 others in fresh Kano NNPC mega station explosion

Barely 24 hours after a female suicide bomber blown herself off at the North West university Kano, another female suicide bomber on Monday has killed three persons and injured seven others at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPCN Mega filling station at Hotoro area in the outskirt of Kano metropolis.

Investigation revealed that the suicide bomber joined the long queue of people lining up to buy kerosene at the filling station, during which she reportedly detonated the bomb.

The Kano state police commissioner, Adenerele Tasheed Shinaba confirmed the blast, saying three persons were killed and 10 others injured.

“She not only killed herself but three innocent persons were consumed by the explosion while no fewer than ten people were said to have sustained varying degree of injuries during the explosion,” the police boss said.

Magaji Musa Majiya, spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command said in a statement that “today 28th July 2014 at about 10:00 am, the Police Command received a distress call that there was a bomb blast at NNPC Mega Station located at Hotoro Qrts. Madiduguri Road Kano.

“On receipt of the information, the Kano Police Command EOD were immidiately mobilised to the scene where it was discovered that the incident occured when kerosene was been sold to a woman pretending to be a customer but had an IED (Explosive) concealed in her possession blow herself up with it and injured ten (10) others.

“The victims where immediately rushed to the hospital where three people were so far confirmed dead while seven are receiving and responding to treatment .

The statement further said that the Kano Police Command EOD (Anti Bomb Squad) personnel and other officers have sealed the scene for sweeping to ensure no other explosives are left behind.
