A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday adjourned to Feb. 24, continuation of trial of a lawyer, and rights activist, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, charged with lease of a property attached by a court order.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged Adegboruwa on one count and the case slated for a continuation of trial before Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo could not hold on Monday due to non availability of the judge.

At the last adjourned date, the second prosecution witness, Teslim Ajuwon, testified, led in evidence by prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo.

Ajuwon, a Compliance Officer with a bank, tendered in evidence, documents relating to the accused’s statement of account with regard to the alleged transaction.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the EFCC accused Adegboruwa of conspiring with one Jonathan Udeagbala (now at large) to lease out a property located at No. 105 NICON Town Estate, Lekki, Lagos.

According to the commission, the property is the subject of an interim order of attachment issued by Justice C.A Balogun of a Lagos High Court, on June 18, 2012.

The commission said that Adegboruwa and Udeagbala leased the property to Shelf Drilling Nig. Ltd. for over N61 million without its consent.

It submitted that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 32(1) of the EFCC Act, 2004.
