Truck crushes three to death in Lagos

A truck conveying two 20-feet containers killed two women and a student at Ketu area of Lagos in the early hours of Friday.

The driver of the truck according to eyewitness account was driving against the traffic when the vehicle lost momentum due to brake failure.

The container slipped and fell on two commuter buses, with registration numbers XH 318 KRD and SMK 406 XF.

Eyewitness account further claimed that those killed passers-by, while passengers in the two buses sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the articulated vehicle fled with the truck immediately the containers fell, while the buses have been towed away by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

An NSCDC official, who preferred anonymity, who confirmed the deaths said the affected buses were taken to their office at Alausa, Ikeja, while the corpses have been deposited at the Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary.
