Tunisian President Kais Saied on Saturday expressed his country’s support for Egypt’s efforts to reach a fair and comprehensive agreement regarding the rules of filling and operating the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) built on the Nile River.

Saied’s remarks came during a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo, where he arrived on Friday for a three-day official visit.

The two leaders also discussed ways of boosting bilateral relations, reiterating their support of the Palestinian cause as “the central cause of the Arab world,’’ and activating the Arab role in ending the Libyan crisis.

Last week, AU-sponsored tripartite talks failed to revive the already stalled negotiations over the GERD.
