Founder of Wigwe University, Herbert Wigwe has said that the tertiary institution is committed to local excellence and global impact by providing world-class education.
He explained that the institution has been established to nurture fearless leaders and would change the narrative about the African continent in all areas.
He noted, “The project’s major focus is nurturing and building responsible and thoughtful leaders who have the capacity to ignite the potential of the continent and take its rightful place as far as the global stage is concerned.”
He revealed that the project will create an efficient ecosystem that will stir the passion for leadership, potentials and to preserve our cultural values.
Stating the institution’s goal, he said: “To change the course of Africa’s future through a globally relevant and locally impactful curriculum, taught through novel methods by an expert faculty to rival the world’s most prestigious universities.”
The institution will commence operation in September 2024 and has unveiled its groundwork, which includes creating a distinct curriculum that will ensure that students can explore both passion and potential in an intellectually stimulating environment.
The project is funded by the Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe (HOW) Foundation, which is focused on three areas: “education, youth empowerment and healthcare,” he said.
He added that the University will be reshaping the educational landscape on the African continent, saying: “the institution is dedicated to providing a world-class education that will equip students with the knowledge and skills to be future-ready.”
Situated in the South-South region, the University offers a range of programmes from Colleges of Management and Social Sciences, Art, Science and Computing and Engineering.
