Tragedy struck at Ogunso area of Sango Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun when a woman allegedly ran berserk and stabbed her 3-year-old son to death.
The ugly incident which occurred on the Children Day celebration was said to have happened at about 4:00pm.
The innocent child, Emmanuel was said to have given up the ghost after writhing in pain and rolling in his blood for a short while as his berserk mother dealt him multiple knife-cuts.
Although no one could ascertain the cause of the alleged crime committed by Emmanuel’s mother, Funmilayo Adeyanju, our correspondent gathered that the child was a product of an alleged incestuous relationship between the woman and her own biological father, which occurred about three years ago.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said that policemen from Ota Division had visited the scene of the crime and took the corpse of the child to the mortuary.
Adejobi also disclosed that the woman who was immediately arrested by the police put up some strange behaviours when questioned about the alleged crime.
“The police have been to the scene to recover the body of the child. The woman has been acting strangely like a person who is of unsound mind. The police would carry out proper investigation.
“The police will work on the state of mind of the woman and we’ll have to seek the help of an expert to know her mental state,” Adejobi said.
