{"id":175002,"date":"2024-02-26T04:53:28","date_gmt":"2024-02-26T03:53:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmail-ng.com\/?p=175002"},"modified":"2024-02-26T04:53:28","modified_gmt":"2024-02-26T03:53:28","slug":"buhari-not-a-blessing-to-nigeria-he-drew-the-country-back-by-50-years-fayose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmail-ng.com\/buhari-not-a-blessing-to-nigeria-he-drew-the-country-back-by-50-years-fayose\/","title":{"rendered":"Buhari not a blessing to Nigeria, he drew the country back by 50 years &#8211; Fayose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"caps\"><strong>Ayodele Fayose,\u00a0 ex-governor of Ekiti, says former President Muhammadu Buhari is \u201cnot a blessing\u201d to Nigeria.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, Fayose said the administration of Buhari \u201cdrew us back to 50 years of our history\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past few months, Nigerians have been battling economic hardship as the prices of food and other basic items have skyrocketed.<\/p>\n<p>Protests over the economic hardship have taken place in some parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>On February 16, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) declared a\u00a0 nationwide mass protest for February 27 and 28, over the economic hardship in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the development, Fayose said Tinubu inherited a \u201cdead economy\u201d adding that there is little the president can do to revive the situation within nine months.<\/p>\n<p>The former Ekiti governor accused the Buhari-led administration of destroying the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>Fayose said Buhari obtained loans that would be repaid by unborn children.<\/p>\n<p>He asked Tinubu to stop praising Buhari in order not to confuse Nigerians about the \u201cmess\u201d created by the former president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook at the eight years of President Muhammadu Buhari, what will be left of a country like Nigeria as of today?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if Tinubu means well, where do you place the debt? Even if Tinubu wants to do the magic, how will he fix the country? There were loans taken in Buhari\u2019s administration, some with 20 to 50 years moratorium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnborn children will face the kind of situation the last administration has plunged this country into.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only thing I want to say to President Tinubu is that, without fear or favour, he should stop praising former President Buhari.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI watched a live television programme of the president telling Nigerians that former President Buhari did well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat will cause confusion in the minds of Nigerians. Yes, he is a member of our party and a leader.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are so many presentations we can make without celebrating a man who has put Nigerians in this predicament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are things you should not say. You can visit, love, and appreciate him, which is personal to the president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith all due respect, do not come to the television to say that former President Buhari was a blessing to Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuhari is not a blessing to Nigerians, with all due respect.
