This was disclosed by a social commentator, Morris Monye, via his X handle, on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Muonagor was said to have suffered kidney failure and was on dialysis.<\/p>\n
The sudden news of his demise comes just a few days after a viral video in which he solicited funds to help him have a kidney transplant.<\/p>\n
Monye wrote, \u201cDeeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was truly masterful. We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis tragic loss highlights the need for better healthcare in our country.\u201d<\/p>\n
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Muonagor, a native of Idemili, in Anambra, was born on August 20, 1962. He was an actor and producer. In 2016, he was nominated for AMVCA 2017 Best Actor in a comedy.<\/p>\n
In 1989, after his youth service, Muonagor started working for the News Agency of Nigeria. He left his job a few years later for an acting role in his first movie as Akunatakasi in Taboo 1, a Nigerian\u00a0movie.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, fans have mourned the death of veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, who died on Sunday at the age of 61.<\/p>\n
Fans took to social media on Sunday to mourn the passing of the actor known for his comical roles on screen, who passed away after a protracted battle with kidney disease.<\/p>\n
The Chairman, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, could not be immediately reached for comments on the actor\u2019s demise, as phone calls and texts made to his known line were not responded to on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

In the social media video earlier showing the Nollywood comedy legend in poor health and begging for financial help from Nigerians, he was seen in bed with a bandage on his chest, barely able to talk.<\/p>\n
Another actor, sitting next to him, explained that Muonagor needed money to pay for a kidney transplant.<\/p>\n
His death is coming even as Nigerians are yet to get past the death of Nollywood actor John Okafor, better known as Mr. Ibu, who recently died.<\/p>\n
An X user, @Oluomoofderby, while mourning the actor, wrote, \u201cMay his soul rest in peace. The healthcare systems in Western and Asian countries that are being patronised by Nigerian leaders only exist because they were developed. They are consistently maintained, through political commitment and visionary leadership, qualities that are clearly lacking in Nigeria. Maybe you like it or not, but the poor healthcare system in our country is going to affect every one of us. We all need to wake up and demand a better healthcare system in Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n
