{"id":35898,"date":"2015-11-28T19:55:07","date_gmt":"2015-11-28T18:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newmail-ng.com\/?p=35898"},"modified":"2015-11-28T19:55:07","modified_gmt":"2015-11-28T18:55:07","slug":"nimasa-orders-rescue-of-crew-members-abducted-on-polish-vessel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmail-ng.com\/nimasa-orders-rescue-of-crew-members-abducted-on-polish-vessel\/","title":{"rendered":"NIMASA orders rescue of crew members abducted on Polish vessel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Acting Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Haruna Baba Jauro has directed a full scale investigation and release of the Captain and four crew members of a Polish cargo vessel who were abducted off Nigeria\u2019s coast. <\/p>\n<p>Eleven of the crew members were left on the vessel after the abduction.<\/p>\n<p>The vessel MV SZAFIR operating under the Cyprus flag was reportedly attacked on Friday approximately seven nautical miles east of Brass at about 0149 hours local time.<\/p>\n<p>Registered with IMO No.9004504, the vessel which is owned by Voltaire Shipping Company and operated by Euroafrica Services Nigeria Limited had a total of 16 crew members and was enroute Onne port from Antwerp before it was attacked.<\/p>\n<p>The vessel which has been rescued by NIMASA is currently being sailed to Onne port under the Nigerian Navy escort for protection and further investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the Nigerian Navy and other security Agencies have commenced a spirited search for the abducted crew with a view to freeing them and bringing the perpetrators of the abduction to book.<\/p>\n<p>Follow Us<\/p>\n<div class=\"addthis_toolbox addthis_32x32_style addthis_default_style\"> <a class=\"addthis_button_facebook_follow\" addthis:userid=\"pages\/NewMailNG\/156576314503603\"><\/a> <a class=\"addthis_button_twitter_follow\" addthis:userid=\"NewMailNG\"><\/a> <\/div>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"\/\/s7.addthis.com\/js\/300\/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-5328a5e30a5c9646\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Acting Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Haruna Baba Jauro has directed a full scale investigation and release of the Captain and four crew members of a Polish cargo vessel who were abducted off Nigeria\u2019s coast.
