{"id":94271,"date":"2018-11-22T19:20:45","date_gmt":"2018-11-22T18:20:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newmail-ng.com\/?p=94271"},"modified":"2018-11-22T19:20:45","modified_gmt":"2018-11-22T18:20:45","slug":"efcc-seals-six-properties-owned-by-fayose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmail-ng.com\/efcc-seals-six-properties-owned-by-fayose\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC seals six properties \u2018owned by Fayose\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday sealed six landed properties allegedly owned by Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti.<\/p>\n<p>NAN reports that the sealing may be connected to a court order which authorised the seizure of the property suspected to have been built with corrupt proceeds.<\/p>\n<p>The anti-graft agency had pressed charges against Fayose in a federal high court Lagos on allegations of fraud while serving as governor.<\/p>\n<p>Parts of the notice of seizure placed by the anti-graft body on the property in Ado Ekiti, read thus: \u201cEFCC, Keep-off\u2019\u2019, \u201cProperty under Investigation\u2019\u2019 among others.<\/p>\n<p>Fayose has accused the EFCC of sealing property owned by innocent individuals under the guise that they belong to him.<\/p>\n<p>The former governor said this in a statement signed by Lere Olayinka, his media assistant.<\/p>\n<p>Fayose said: \u201cI have just been informed that operatives of the EFCC are going about sealing houses of innocent people in the state, under the guise that the houses are linked to me<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is another wild goose chase and the usual media campaign against my person. It is only in our country that an anti corruption agency will first go about sealing houses before determining the ownership, which can be done so easily by visiting relevant agencies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am therefore, informing the public ahead of their usual blackmail and media trial. Please note that none of the property in question is owned by me and the records are there for anyone that is interested to see<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe EFCC is advised to stop going about looking for ways to malign my person just because of their hatred as a result of my uncompromising stands on national issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if the commission is being pressured from \u2018above\u2019 to persecute me at all cost, it should at least, do its job diligently to save itself from persistent embarrassment.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday sealed six landed properties allegedly owned by Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti.
