The Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company, Delta State, has been gutted by fire. The cause of the fire, which started at about 11.00am was not immediately known.
Eyewitness stated that the fire which started from one of the refining plants in the complex, was still raging at the time of this report.
The entire Warri township and its environ was engulfed in huge overcast of smoke pouring into the sky from the blazing inferno.
It was gathered that the management of the company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, has sent SOS to the state fire service and companies that have private fire fighting equipment to join in the efforts to quell the inferno.
