#FreeEse: Emir of Kano orders Sharia commission to return Ese to Bayelsa

The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II has ordered the state Sharia Commission to liaise with office of the Assistant Inspector General of police, zone 1 to commence process of repatriating the 14 years old teenager, Ese Oruru allegedly abducted by one Yunusa of Kura local government area of Kano state.

In his first official reaction, the emir of Kano distanced himself, Kano emirate council from the purported abduction of Ese Oruru by suspected lover.

Sanusi II said “I have ordered the sharia commission to liaise with the office of Deputy Inspector General of police zone to repatriate and reconcile the teenager with her family immediately”

Ese Oruru was allegedly abducted in Opolo, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, by one Yunusa an indigene of Kura local government area of Kano sometimes in August, 2015.

The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has said the Emir of Kano’s Hajj trip was responsible for the delay in securing the release of 14-year-old Ese Oruru, who is being held captive in Kano State.

Arase said this on Sunday after the launch of a “Free Ese” Campaign by PUNCH, which drew the attention of thousands of Nigerians to the plight of the Orurus, causing outrage over the shocking story.

“I have just spoken with the Sunday PUNCH’s Editor. I explained to her about the delay. The police command in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, actually followed up the matter right from Kano State, ” Arase told The PUNCH.

“The Emir decided that he was going to mediate. But, because of his trip to Mecca with the President; that was what caused the delay. But now that he is back, we are going to sort it out as quickly as possible.”
