The Lagos State Government has begun to shop for a likely successor to Babatunde Fowler as the state’s chief tax officer.
Fowler was last k appointed by President Muhammad Buhari as acting Chairman, Chief Executive, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS.
Through aggressive revenue generation, Fowler increased Lagos monthly internally generated revenue (IGR) from N600 million to N23 billion.
A source told our correspondent that the choice of Fowler’s successor would be determined by politics, loyalty and experience of the candidate and that the candidate may either be from within the top management staff of the service or outside.
Those in the race for the number one tax officer in Lagos are Mrs. Nike Disu, Deputy Director/ Coordinator, Large Taxpayer; Alhaji T.K Tijani, Deputy Director, Special Duties; Bicci Alli, Deputy Director, New Growth Areas; Mr. Eniola Adigun, Deputy Director, Chairman’s office.
Others include Mr. O. Gaffar, Deputy Director, Review. Others are Mr. I.T. Jimoh, Deputy Director, PIT Directorate; Bolaji Akintola, Director, Tax Audit; Mrs. Olabimpe Oluwa- Badmus, the Board Secretary and former Assistant Director.
