Steer clear of traditional institution, NSCIA advises politicians

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has advised politicians to steer clear of process of Emir of Kano appointment and allow the Kano Emirate to do its job.

In a statement by Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Secretary- General of the Council said the interference of the politicians in the affairs of traditional institution especially in the emergence of new Emir of Kano was disturbing.

“The interference of the Politicians in the affairs of Kano Emirate is not in the interest of anybody”, he said.

Oloyede advised “all political actors to allow the traditional and religious institutions to see to the smooth enthronement of the new Emir”.

“A person has been appointed by the Kano Emirate Council, politicians should steer clear and abide by the decision of the Council”, Oloyede said.

Oloyede said both the religious and traditional institutions are doing their best to see to the smooth transition of the new emir of Kano without rancour.

“On behalf of the Muslim Community in Nigeria, we felicitate with the choice of the Kano Emirate, His Royal Highness Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and wish him a long fruitful and productive tenure” he prayed.
