The deputy governor of Yobe state, Abubakar Ali, on Monday, narrowly escaped death when his SUV collided with a Toyota car along the Kaduna- Kano expressway.

The accident, according to eyewitness account, occurred in Daka-Tsalle town, along the expressway.

The SUV the deputy Governor was travelling in reportedly had a head-on collision with a Toyota Avensis vehicle, leaving the Toyota car badly damaged and some of its occupants injured.

The deputy governor’s vehicle, however, did not somersault, thus prevented what would have been another national mourning, less than 48-hours after Labour and Employment Minister, James Ocholi, his wife and first son, died in auto crash.

The deputy governor’s convoy later continued its trip to Kano for a scheduled condolence visit to the Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who lost his mother on Friday.
