Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team will have the chance to negotiate a return to the African Nations Championship when the qualifiers for the 2024 edition kick off in September.
The Nigerian home side crashed out of the tournament after losing to the Black Stars of Ghana through penalty shootout in Abuja following a 2-2 aggregate score at the end of both legs.
The Super Eagles B last qualified for the CHAN in 2018 in Morocco where they got to the final before losing 4-0 to the hosts. They have played in only three editions of the seven held.
The African soccer governing had initially scheduled the qualifier to commence in July with the first round of the qualifier set to go down.
But the football body announced Wednesday that the first round of the qualifier will now resume in September this year.
Algeria hosted the last edition of the edition while Senegal emerged as the winner of the title.
