254 students bag distinction as YABATECH holds 35th convocation

7, 717 graduands will be graduating during the 35th convocation ceremony of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) slated to hold from Friday, November 17, to Thursday, November 23, 2023.

A total of 1, 893 will be graduating with upper credit while 3, 940 are graduating in lower credit and 1, 630 in pass grade.

The grand finale of the convocation ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, November 23, 2023 at the Dr. Philip Adegbile sports complex.

Speaking at a press conference, YABATECH Rector, Dr. Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul said the convocation ceremonies will involve award of Diplomas, Certificates and Prizes to the graduating students of the 2021/2022 academic session.

He noted that a total number of 254 students of the institution would bag distinction at the event, and the brilliant academic performances of the students is due to the commitment of the lecturers to the academic excellence of the students during the period.

According to him,  the convocation lecture comes up on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 11am with the topic; Empowering Nigerian Youths in the Present Day Economy, to be delivered by the Chief of Staff to the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Rt Hon. Olufemi Gbajabiamila.

The Chairman of the convocation lecture is Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Abdul disclosed that the college will be conferring fellowship awards on three outstanding Nigerians: Lady Christine Doja Otedola, Comrade Hassan Adebayo Sunmonu, and His Excellency, Engr. Prof. Babagana Zulum.” the Executive Governor of Borno State.

He explained that the fellowship awards on notable Nigerians is as a result of their immense contribution to national development, education in line with the mandate of the polytechnic education, and the justification for the conferment of the prestigious fellowship awards on these revered Nigerians centers on their respective accomplishments within and outside the country.
