Ramadan fast begins as moon sighted in Sokoto, Kebbi states

The Sultan of Sokoto and President, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Saad Abubakar has announced the sighting of the crescent(moon), thus signifying the commencement of the the Ramadan fast.

The announcement made late on Friday night was sequel to the sighting of the moon in Sokoto and Kebbi states.

Before the Sultan’s confirmation of the sighting of the moon, a report quoting the Saudi Arabian authorities as declaring Sunday as the first day of Ramadan following the inability to sight the Crescent in the Saudi Arabian Republic on Friday.
