The Rivers State Government says it has commenced its tour of all the wards in the 23 local government areas of the state, in futherance of its open government policy.
A statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ibim Semenitari, said the tour became necessary in order to afford the state government have on-the-spot assessment of all ongoing projects with a view to providing immediate responses to areas that requires government immediate action.
“As we enter the last lap of our administration, it is imperative that we go round to see what governance gaps remain in our quest to guarantee the life of present and future generations,” Semenitari said in the statement, quoting Governor Chibuike Amaechi as saying.
Amaechi assures that his government is determined to finish strong and “so we must cross the T’s and dot the
I’s”. This is a non partisan, non political tour and we would want all parties, persons and interests to please join us in this critical interaction as we make our final push to complete our mandate and deliver on our promises to Rivers people,” the governor said.
The tour, which started on Tuesday with a visit to Ikwerre Local Government is expected to last two months.
