The Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has warned traditional rulers to shun partisan politics, concentrate on traditional matter and developmental roles in their various domains
Oba Gbadebo who spoke at the installation of the traditional head (Baale) of Akinjole Town in Ewekoro local government area of ogun State, Chief Olanrewaju Monday Akintona, said partisanship of traditional rulers in politics could jeopardise the integrity of traditional institutions.
Alake stressed that as a father to all, traditional rulers, should continue to ensure the unity of every one in their domain and shun controversies such as politics and involvement in illegal land tussle.
Earlier in his acceptance speech, the newly installed Baale of Akinjole Town Chief Olanrewaju Monday Akintona, vowed to use his new position to promote unity among his subjects.
He said he recognised his position as a Baale, who must shun partisan politics, avoid actions and utterances that could give the impression that will promote disunity among his subjects.
He maintained that both the religious leaders and traditional Chieftaincy holders represent two vital institutions that should not be tainted by the vagaries of politics.
While calling on all sons and daughters of Akinjole to join hands together with him to move the town to greater heights, Chief Akintona said the development of the town can only be achieved if all come together as one.
The installation which was witnessed by high chiefs from Egba and Kemta section of Egbaland includes Chief Tosin Fadare, Chief Abayomi Rotimi, the Oluwo of Kemta and many Kemta traditional Chiefs took place at the Palace of Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
