Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest person, says due to a minor delay, petrol supply from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery will commence in July.
Dangote spoke during the inauguration of Dangote Sinotruk West Africa’s completely knocked-down (CKD) plant in Lagos on June 9.
On May 18, Dangote said from this month on, the refinery would begin producing petrol, adding that Nigeria would not have to import the product again.
Providing updates, Dangote said the refiner should begin supplying petrol to the downstream market by July 15.
“We had a bit of a delay, but PMS will start coming out by July 10 to 15. But then we want to keep it in the tank to make sure that it settles,” he said.
“So by the third week of July, we’ll be able to come out to take it into the market.”
On June 3, Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest person, said some international oil companies (IOCs) are struggling to supply crude to his refinery.
