Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom has reacted to a defamatory online story on the kingdom’s traditional ruler, saying “it was published with the intent to tarnish the reputation of His Majesty, the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom.”
According to the publication, the said monarch was petitioned for land-grabbing, arming killer squads, kidnapping and convicted for a crime overseas of theft of $300 computers thirty years ago before he was enthroned as king.
According to Palace sources, at the time of the alleged incident, the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku was not in the US and was studying for his masters degree in business administration at the University of Edinburgh.
In a swift reaction, a statement signed by Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, the Palace Secretary, added that “this malicious story is part of an ongoing campaign against His Majesty and his family, launched by individuals seeking to disrupt the peace and integrity of the Ogwashi-Uku community.”
The statement continued: “The recent story was sponsored by Barrister Mayor Okolie, Elumunor Adigwe who are facing criminal charges in charge number FHC/ASB/18C/2024 for terrorism, causing intercommunal war, levying war on a traditional ruler, attempted murder and destruction of police and vigilante vehicle at the Federal High Court in Asaba, stemming from his October 2023 attack against His Majesty.”
Continuing, the statement added that “the other sponsors of this defamatory campaign such as Ugo Emordi are also facing charges related to murder, arson and rape at the Delta State High Courts.”
The Obi of Ogwashi-Uku is a highly educated and respected monarch with a Doctorate Degree in Economics and History and is working extremely hard against entrenched interests who are hell bent to wrestle control of community assets and create anarchy within the kingdom.
“The allegations in the story are entirely false, and we intend to pursue appropriate legal action to address this misinformation. His Majesty, the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, reaffirms his commitment to transparency and lawfulness and welcomes any investigation by the any investigative agency as claimed in the authors’ statements,” the statement concluded.
It is instructive that on this day today 6/11/2024 when even Donald Trump despite accusations of criminal convictions was elected overwhelmingly as the president elect of the United States these stories will not stop the work the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku is doing to ensure that the lives of his subjects are improved.
