Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Rt. Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker, House of Representatives are slated to be conferred with Yaba College of Technology’s prestigious fellowship award at its 36th Convocation Ceremony
The Rector of the institution, Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Abdul made this known while addressing the media at the college 36th Pre-Convocation World Press Conference on Thursday, at its Council Chamber.
According to him, “we are privileged to honor two distinguished Nigerians with the prestigious fellowship award of Yaba College of Technology. These individuals have not only made remarkable contributions to Nigeria but have also inspired generations with their leadership and vision. Our fellowship awardees are: Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, OON and His Excellency, Honourable Tajudeen Abass, Ph.D, GCON.
The rector said that their achievements in public service reflect the values of dedication, integrity, and excellence that are needed to instill in the students and the college is proud to have them as part of the Yaba College of Technology family.
Speaking on the Convocation activities, he said that the College will flag off the 36th Convocation ceremonies with a special Jumat Service, which will be followed by Interdenominational Service on Sunday, at Yusuf Grillo Art Auditorium.
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu will deliver this year Convocation Lecture while His Excellency, the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima GCON will chair the occasion; he stated.
Dr. Abdul added that Sanwo-Olu, will speak on Developing Exportable Alternatives for Nigeria’s Economic Recovery of which he will bring his experience as the Governor of the most prosperous state in Nigeria to bear on the topic. He averred that valuable ideas generated from this lecture will serve as the contributions of the premier institution (YABATECH) to the economic diversification and recovery of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
On the convocation highlights, the rector disclosed a total of Eight Thousand, One Hundred and Thirty-Nine (8,139) students, who have demonstrated diligence and commitment to their studies will be graduating from Yaba College of Technology.
To provide you with more specific details, the rector declared that Three Hundred and Sixteen (316) students are graduating with distinction, Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighty-One (2,381) students earned upper credit division while Three Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty-Nine (3,939) will be graduating with lower credit. One Thousand, Five Hundred and Three (1,503) students will be receiving their diplomas with a pass grade; he added.
