David Luiz has revealed he remains a virgin and will wait until he is married before having sex.
The former Chelsea defender revealed his stance on sex-before-marriage alongside a picture of his recent baptism, which was conducted in the indoor swimming pool of his PSG team-mate Maxwell.
Alongside an image from the ceremony posted on Instagram, the 28-year-old wrote “I have chosen to wait”. The Brazil international plans to remain abstinent until marrying girlfriend Sara Madeira.
Luiz began his post on social media with a verse from the bible. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)”
He added: “How wonderful to live with you Lord, thank You for loving me so much and take care of me! My life is yours, and I am your servant! What ‘re always in the center of all my decisions! I love my God! amen”
Luiz is not the first footballer to take a vow of celibacy, with fellow Brazilian Kaka also claiming he was a virgin until his marriage at the age of 23.
