Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has said that the impeachment plot against him by the 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers will fail.
Fayose said this in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday when a delegation of the Peoples Democratic Party national leadership paid him a solidarity visit.
He said, “We are solidly on the ground. You know it will get to a stage when the people will act like the constitution themselves. When the APC lawmakers wanted to do ‘jankara’ impeachment, the people here became the constitution themselves and they said no.”
He assured the delegation, which was led by the party’s acting national chairman, Uche Secondus, not to lose sleep over the impeachment plot.
“My party leaders, just go home and rest; we will be on the ground like the nation of Israel to protect our territory,” Fayose added.
The delegation included the National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo; National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh; National Organising Secretary, Abubakar Mustapha, and the National Auditor, Fatai Adeyanju.
Secondus said that the party neither begged President Muhammadu Buhari nor the APC not to impeach Fayose, saying that the PDP only appealed for the government of the day to be fair.
Fayose’s supporters barricaded the major road leading to the Ekiti State House of Assembly complex.
PDP members in Efon Alaaye made life difficult for commuters passing through the community.
