Security scare: Sokoto to conduct census of home owners, tenants

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has said that home owners in Sokoto will soon be compelled to properly document all tenants and pass same information to the security agencies for monitoring and necessary checks if the need arises.

According to him, this measure becomes necessary in view of the precarious security situation in the country.

Speaking when he granted audience to the Sultan of Sokoto, ‎Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar who paid the traditional sallah homage to the Governor, Tambuwal said every necessary steps will be taken to enhance security and stability of the state.

He said government will give priority attention to key sectors like education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, youth empowerment and social welfare‎ development.

He said in agriculture, his administration will utilise the Goronyo and Wurno dams ‎to enhance irrigation and dry season farming.

Earlier in his remarks, Sultan Sa’ad advised the government to introduce school shuttle service in all public schools to ease transportation challenges faced by students.

He also urged Tambuwal to introduce favourable policies that will assist traders and other private entrepreneurs in the state.

Meanwhile, Sokoto state government said it will not discriminate against children of indigenes and non-indigenes in all its schools.

Governor Tambuwal stated this when members of the State Residents Association visited him at the Government House.
