Suspected Boko Haram insurgents, have again raided the village of Pompomari in Borno State, killing about eight people.

According to reports, the attack was unleashed the same day twin suicide bombings took place in Cameroun.

“The gunmen, we believe to be Boko Haram members came into our village around 9 pm on Wednesday and shot dead eight people,” a resident of the village, Umar Goni, said.

“The militants stormed the home of the village chief who was away at the time and killed his son before moving on to other houses where they killed a vigilante and people who had been displaced by previous attacks”, Goni said.

The death toll was confirmed by a member of a local vigilante group, Yuram Bura.

Pompomari is about 15 kilometers (nine miles) from Biu, the biggest town in southern Borno.
