Seven killed, 20 injured in Adamawa IDP camp bomb blast

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has confirmed that seven persons have so far confirmed dead and 20 others injured in the bomb blast that occurred in Malkohi Internally Displaced Persons camp Yola, Adamawa state.

Among the injured, seven were treated and discharged while 13 persons including four NEMA officials are still receiving treatment at Federal Medical Center, Yola.

The Bomb, which was planted inside a Tent, went off Friday morning at around 10: 50am.

Earlier report had claimed that at least two people were killed in a blast that occurred at an Internally Displaced Persons, IDP camp in Adamawa State.

A Red Cross official and the State Police Command which confirmed the blast said “There was a blast at Malkohi IDP (internally displaced persons) camp in Yola around 11 o’clock this morning (1000 GMT).”

Also, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the incident, stating that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detonated on Friday morning at Malkohi camp in Yola.

Confirming this via its twitter handle, NEMA said policemen have been drafted to the scene and the area condoned off.
