The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), Barrister Ekpo Nta said the war against corruption had started gaining momentum as more Nigerians were enlisting in it.
Nta attributed the healthy development to the anti-corruption disposition of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in which case he said the President had been leading by example.
He said this while featuring in current affairs programme by the Nigerian Television Authority, Issues of The Moment as he expressed delight that the anti-corruption war was already heading in the right direction in Nigeria.
The ICPC boss said even the international community had started reckoning with the anti-corruption drive of the Nigerian government.
He said the seriousness with which the war was being fought in Nigeria had been eliciting responses from countries which he stressed had been promising to offer assistance to Nigeria on fight against corruption.
He said the fight against corruption had also started generating interest from the grassroots in Nigeria as even local communities were willingly reporting indigenes they suspect as living above their means.
He recalled that hitherto, the indigenes of some communities had been hostile to operators of law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies including ICPC when they want to effect arrests.
He said ICPC had long taken preventive measures towards advancing the course of the fight against corruption through the promotion of ethics and integrity from childhood and alluded to the launching of National Values Curriculum in schools since 2007 to inculcate ethics in students at primary and secondary schools.
