A cross section of Muslim groups in Nigeria have applauded the appointment of Prof Is-haq Oloyede as the new Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) urging him to see it as a challenge to further serve the nation.

In their respective congratulatory messages, the Muslim groups described Oloyede as a seasoned educationist and administrator per excellence owing to his track records in the past public life.

The groups were Muslim Rights Concern, (MURIC), Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUSCOYS) Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA), Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), and Muslim Consultative Forum (MCF).

In its message, MURIC said that given Oloyede’s wide experience in university administration, it has no doubt that he would bring positive changes to the national examination body.

It urged the new JAMB Registrar to urgently give a human face to the national examination body, stressing that for a starter, all early morning JAMB examinations which start by 6.30 am should be stopped.

“The last JAMB examination held in February 2016 exposed young Nigerians to serious danger. Two female candidates were reportedly kidnapped.

“Another was killed by hoodlums. Some others had their cell phones and cash snatched by hoodlums on their way to the examination centres because they had to leave home before daylight. The security situation in the country is not yet conducive for such early morning examinations.

“We pray that Allah guides his actions and utterances in his capacity as the new JAMB Registrar.

MMPN through its chairman, Abdur-Rahman Balogun expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Oloyede to head the troubled JAMB.

“As you are set to commence this onerous task before you, we urge you to be careful of those who hail you and reflect on the criticism of your critics. Know that every failure is a test and every success, a trial.

“You have passed the test of past failures and it is the wish of the Almighty Allah to try you with success. For every action, there is a reaction; for every opportunity, there is a responsibility and for every appointment, there is accountability before men and Allah,” Balogun said.

In its message, FOMWAN congratulated Oloyede on his new appointment, urging him to use his past experience in educational sector to correct the deficiencies at the Board.

While rejoicing with Oloyede, FOMWAN in a statement by her National PRO, Alhaja Sururah Oyero called on him to fear Allah in his stewardship by being just and fair to all regardless of their tribes or religious affinity.

To the Muslim Community of Oyo State, it advised Oloyede to accelerate pro active reforms in JAMB to the benefit of teeming Nigerian youths desirous of admissions into tertiary institutions.

Its Chairman, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni thanked Allah for Oloyede’s new appointment, and urged him to be wary of psychophants capable of derailing him.

In the same vein, Engr. Abdulwaheed Odeyimka, National President of UNIFEMGA described Oloyede’s appointment as “well deserved, putting the right peg in the right hole.”

Odeyimka said as alumni with interest in educational development, expressed worries of policy summersault by previous JAMB administrators to the detriment of millions of Nigerian students seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

MSSN in its felicitation message signed by Mushafau Alaran, B Zone Coordinator, thanked Allah for making Oloyede the new Registrar in JAMB as he will bring his experiences to bear in reforming the Board.

Malam Idris Usman, Muslim Consultative Forum (MCF) coordinator urged Oloyede to urgently bring his wealth of experience as a seasoned administrator to bear to correct all the anomalies in the agency.
