INEC’s Electoral Institute DG, Prof. Abubakar Momoh, is dead

Prof. Abubakar Momoh

Professor of Political Science, and the Director-General of the National Electoral Institute, Abubakar Momoh, is dead.

Momoh was with the Lagos State University, Ojo, before he was appointed the CEO of the Institute of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

A native of Auchi, Estako West in Edo state Prof. Momoh reportedly died after a protracted illness.

Members of a WhatsApp group, which has the spokesman of the Pro-National Democratic Coalition, Wale Okunniyi, as its Administrator, confirmed the development.

Momoh is also a member of the WhatsApp group known as Nigeria Democracy Platform.

He started lecturing in 1988 and has served on various Boards and Scientific Committees, including those of the Centre for Democracy and Development and the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa.

He has more than 70 publications to his credit and was also the Vice President of African Association of Political Science and a researcher and lecturer at many universities across the world.
