The Taraba State Government has said 1,318 prospective pilgrims from the state were expected to perform the 2014 hajj.
Baba Muri, the Spokesman for the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who made the disclosure in Jalingo, the state capital, said that out of the number, 93 were those who could not make the 2013 pilgrimage.
Muri said the remaining number were from the 16 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the board has already started receiving deposits from the intending pilgrims.
He announced that pregnant women, aged persons, females without guides, among others, would not be allowed to perform the pilgrimage.
“Anyone that falls within the category of persons banned for the pilgrimage should just respect himself or herself and not come to the board for any registration,” the spokesman said.
He explained that every intending pilgrim must be an indigene of the state, must have an international passport and must first deposit N600,000.
