PUNCH chair, Wale Aboderin to be buried on Friday

The family of the late Chairman of Punch Nigeria Limited, Gbadebowale Wayne Aboderin, has announced the funeral arrangements for the deceased.

Aboderin, who was born on April 17, 1958, died on May 30, 2018, at about 6.05am after a heart surgery at the First Cardiology Consultants, Ikoyi, Lagos. He was 60 years of age.

According to the funeral arrangements announced by the family on Sunday, the service of song will hold on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at his residence by 4.00pm at the Punch Estate, 1 Olu Aboderin Street, Onipetesi, Mangoro Bus Stop, Ikeja

A basketball novelty match featuring The Dolphins: Old versus New will also take place on Wednesday at the Dolphins Indoor Sports Hall located within the Punch Estate by 6.00pm.

The wake and the celebration of life concert will come up on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the New Haven Events Centre, Oba Akinjobi Street, Ikeja G.R.A by 5 pm.

The lying-in-state will hold on Friday, June 15, 2018, by 8.00am while the funeral service will follow at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church, Oba Akinjobi Street, Ikeja G.R.A. by 9 am.

“A private internment will follow immediately,” the family said.

Aboderin, was until his death also Chairman, Punch Commercial Printing Limited and Lukahed Properties Limited.

He attended the Government College, Ibadan and trained as a pilot in the United States.

A sports enthusiast and philanthropist, he was the founder and chairman of the Dolphins Female Basketball Foundation, and also a former chairman of the Lagos State Basketball Association.

He was a one-time vice-president of the Nigerian Basketball Supporters Club.

Aboderin is survived by his wife and children.
