A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has fingered the state governor, Ayodele Fayose as been responsible for the recent killings of APC supporters in the state.

About five supporters of the APC governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, have been killed in the state since Monday, provoking a pubic outcry over the violent acts.

In a statement by Niyi Ojo, the Director of Media of his Campaign organization, PAAM, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, claimed that Governor Fayose has been synonymous with violent crimes since his advent into Ekiti State politics in 2001.

He also added that his party has impeccable intelligence reports that have warned against the movement of thugs from the Niger Delta to the state for the sole aim of killing and maiming the opposition in the state, in order to intimidate the party’s supporters ahead of the governorship election billed for July 14.

The statement reads in part; “everybody knows Fayose and his antecedents, we all know him as a violent person, who will stop at nothing in order to achieve his personal interest, regardless of the will of the people.

“We have impeccable intelligence reports before now, that he was planning to import some Niger Delta militants from the south south, to come and foment trouble in the state, through killings and maiming of the people.

“Just yesterday (Thursday), two APC supporters were gunned down in their prime in the state and the style used in the dastardly act is similar to the modus operandi of the other killings, which started with the drive-by shooting of an itinerant lone supporter of Dr Kayode Fayemi on Monday morning”.

The former Minister of State for Works, calls on the security agents in the state to swing into action and check the rampaging marauders immediate, because it might precipitate further killings and erupt in an orgy of violence that will rock the state and country, which will eventually, threaten the relative peace been enjoyed in the country at the moment.

“I hereby implore the security agencies in the country, especially the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to as a matter of urgency, wade into the matter and the check the violent conducts of these marauding criminals that have invaded the state.

“These violence might snow ball into a full scale war that will threaten the existing peace in the state and country, if not summarily checked,” he said.
