Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has come under criticisms from netizens for offering prayers to Israel amid conflict with Hamas in Palestine.

On October 7, Hamas, a political and militant movement currently governing the Gaza strip of the Palestinian territories, infiltrated Israel and unleashed an unprecedented attack that resulted in the death  over 150 Israelis.

In a good will message titled: “Special message to the nation of Israel”, Adeboye said all the members of the RCCG are praying for Israel to have “absolute victory” in the ongoing conflict.

“The almighty God, the only one of Israel, will give you absolute victory and give you permanent peace from now on in the mighty name of Jesus,” Adeboye had prayed  in a video clip shared on the church’s page on X.

“It is going to be well with you. We pray that this war would be the one that would be end of all wars.”

Criticising Adeboye’s kindhearted-message, netizens said the conflict between Israel and Hamas has nothing to do with religion but crisis over ownership of territories.

Others said the general overseer may not understand the plight of the Palestinians in the ongoing war, while some accused him of always leaning neutral during political and security tensions in Nigeria.
