Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has described the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps as an honest service that makes no room for bribery by criminals.
The governor, who made the assertion when the Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ade Abolurin paid him a courtesy visit at Governor’s Office, Uyo, stated that “The Nigeria Civil Defence Corps is a honest service that criminals cannot bribe to get away with their crimes.
“The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has also extended their services to look into the protection of critical infrastructure, which Akwa Ibom State has recently benefitted from your service during the recent seizure of about 30 long tankers conveying illegal products. And I must commend the service for doing a lot of work in that direction,” Akpabio said.
While congratulating the Commandant-General for taking the Nigeria Defence Corps to another level, Governor Akpabio remarked that Abolurin’s “humility, passion and dedication are encouraging, which is why the organization is waxing stronger and stronger because you have transformed the service by making it an honest service. And I urge you to keep up the good work”.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Abolurin had noted that the service was interested in the safety of government infrastructure, curbing of oil pipeline vandalism and working with relevant agencies to ensure the protection of infrastructure in the power and telecommunication sector.
Dr. Abolurin said their visit to the state Governor was to appreciate him as a role model who had transformed the state tremendously, calling on other leaders to emulate the developmental strides of Governor Akpabio.
